I really enjoy coding. AI has changed coding a lot - it makes me the architect and the tester for code. But I'm not writing actual code as much as I was when I first built the Taught by Humans platform.

Our platform isn't vibe-coded (when you write prompts and an AI tool builds you the entire website or app), it's more AI-assisted. We give Claude code from our platform with a specification, it writes code, we run it and test it, suggest any needed changes.

This is amazing for productivity. I appreciate the speed. But I do miss the coding and figuring things out a bit.

But I Can Code

We've been teaching people to use Lovable for about a year now. I will admit to being a bit resistant to vibe-coding for too long. If I wanted to build something - I can code it. The list of things I want to build is long. I often opt for a spreadsheet to organise my brain or plan. Even as a spreadsheet lover the little rectangles get to me eventually.

Bringing More People In

At Taught by Humans, we run SWAID (the South West and Wales Women in AI and Data) network. We needed a website. I could have built it myself quite quickly. Instead I vibe-coded it using Lovable.

It's cute. It does everything it needs to do. Most importantly - if any of the non-technical members of the team want to make a change, they can. By prompting.

All Of The Vibes

I've gone a little vibe-coding crazy these past few weeks. My husband said my current most used phrase is Wanna see what I built? It all started with me struggling to fill in a migraine tracker spreadsheet I made for myself, as it was fiddly on my phone.

Then I was trying to find a new space for our team and got too many LinkedIn replies - so I made a filterable map of Bristol co-working spaces.

Also - a skincare routine generator; something to analyse UK gender pay gap data; a knitting pattern creator; a founder burn out check-in tool; and a list of small tools which are making my life and work day easier.

Joyful Vibes

And the biggest thing I've taken away from this - it's brought a weird amount of my joy for outside of work tech projects back. There is an easy, and a tiny bit of magic, to watching your thoughts turn into something before your eyes.

I'm Officially a Vibe Coder.
