Not a list of the best AI tools. Just the ones that are actually useful to us.

The Chatbots

ChatGPT

We use GPT-4o for writing, GPT-5 for deeper thinking and more complex ideas.

Still our default tool for getting things started.

Claude (Anthropic)

Surprisingly good at coding support.

Clear, careful, and logical - feels more human tutor than assistant.

Especially helpful when debugging or reviewing tricky logic.

Perplexity

Great for research - it links sources, doesn't hallucinate (as much).

We use it to fact-check, explore unfamiliar topics, and compare perspectives.

GitHub Copilot

Autocomplete for code, and integrates into IDEs or Word/Docs.

We don't use it much ourselves, but if your team works in code or Microsoft, it's worth exploring.

Image Creation

Canva (Pro)

The built-in AI features are good enough: text-to-image, auto layout, background removal.

Great for workshops, presentations, and fast mockups.

ChatGPT (image generation inside)

Good for quick visuals, social posts, and experimental drafts.

Doesn't always get details right - best used for inspiration.

For Vibe Coding & Fast Prototyping

Lovable

We love Lovable.

It lets anyone prototype small tools or data apps without writing code - perfect for hackathons or experimenting with how AI might help with internal processes.

For Learning & Summarising

NotebookLM (Google)

Think: study buddy for your docs.

• Upload PDFs, transcripts, or web pages
• Then ask questions like: What's the takeaway on slide 6? or Where do we cover X?

Really good for catching up fast.

AI Where You Already Are

You might be using AI without even realising it - most modern platforms are adding it by default.

Zoom

• Built-in summaries and action points (depending on plan)
• Handy for follow-ups and note sharing
• Still needs a human sense-check

Google Workspace

• Help me write in Gmail and Docs
• Smart fill and formula hints in Sheets
• Good for light writing and drafting

Microsoft Copilot

• Works across Excel, Outlook, Word, and more
• Good if you're already deep in Microsoft tools
• Especially useful for summarising threads, cleaning data, and writing emails

Notion AI

Works well inside Notion to rewrite, summarise, and brainstorm.

We mostly use it to clean up notes or prep first drafts.

Like all AI tools: helpful, not perfect.
